Frequently Asked Questions

How does a clamping profile hold glass without drilling?

The profile is an aluminum channel that wraps the edge of the glass; the panel is dropped in and held with clamping plates and a sealing strip, so no holes are needed in the glass. This makes installation faster and avoids weakening the panel. It is sized for 8-10 mm glass.

What is the standard length, and can I get it cut?

The standard length is 6 meters. We can cut it to your sizes - tell us your exact lengths and quantities and we will quote the cutting. If you cut on site, allow for the blade kerf and deburr the cut ends before installation.

Which glass thickness does the profile fit?

8-10 mm glass. That covers typical frameless door and partition panels. Do not force thicker glass into the channel - the clamp and gasket geometry is fixed for 8-10 mm. For other ranges we have different profiles, so ask if you are outside this.

Can this profile be used for doors or only fixed partitions?

It suits both. For fixed glass panels (partitions, screens) the clamping profile is a clean edge treatment. For doors it works where the glass is the moving leaf and the profile acts as the frame channel. Note that it is a fixing channel, not a hinge - moving doors still need hinges or pivots.

Is the profile suitable for wet areas?

The profile is aluminum alloy, which does not rust like steel, but in a wet area the fixings and sealant matter as much as the profile. Use neutral-cure silicone for the glass seal and stainless fixings if possible. If the channel is exposed, the finish (brushed nickel, matte black, or custom) will show wear over years of cleaning.

What finishes can I get on the profile?

Brushed nickel and matte black are stock, with custom colors for OEM runs. Because it is an extruded aluminum section, the color is applied rather than plated, so keep the same finish code for all profiles in one job to avoid tone differences between batches.
