304 is fine for indoor commercial doors - offices, shops, malls. Choose 316 when the door is coastal, near a pool, or in a humid environment where salt or chlorine can reach the hardware. Both grades fit the same 8-12 mm glass range; the difference is corrosion resistance, not fit.
