Frequently Asked Questions
Where does this clamp fix - to the post, the wall, or the glass only?
The clamp body grips the glass edge and then bolts to a post, wall bracket or railing frame - it is a two-part fixing. So it works where a balcony has existing posts (clamp-to-post), or where panels run between wall and post (clamp-to-wall at the end). It never drills into the glass; the grip is all around the panel edge.
Can the clamp jaws be adjusted for different glass thicknesses?
The jaw opening is fixed in the body and the gap is closed with the rubber gasket matched to your glass - so you order the clamp for your thickness rather than turning a dial. Sizes are gasket-matched for the 8-12 mm tempered panels common on balconies. If the panel is thicker, confirm before ordering so the correct gasket and jaw set ships.
Will the rubber cushions protect the glass edge from chipping?
Yes - the jaws carry EPDM cushions between steel and glass on every contact face, so no metal touches the glass. That is what prevents edge chips and stress marks around the grip. The same cushions take up the small thickness tolerances between glass suppliers. Over time the pads can be replaced without removing the clamp.
What is the difference between this clamp and the 576 heavy-duty one?
This is the standard clamp for regular infill panels and post-mounted fixing. The 576 is the heavy-duty version with a beefier body and 316-grade options, for bigger panels, higher wind exposure, or specs that ask for a heavier section. Same mounting logic, different load envelope. For a standard balcony infill this one is the right cost; heavy-duty pays for itself only on exposed or oversized panels.
What finishes are available to match a typical balcony railing?
Brushed nickel, chrome, matte black and custom colors. Matte black and brushed nickel cover most modern balcony railing frames; if the frame is already finished, send a sample or RAL and we color-match the clamp. Stock finishes start at 50 pcs; custom colors at 500 pcs.
How many clamps per panel should I plan for?
For a standard panel with two posts, the common pattern is three clamps: two where the panel meets each post and one at the mid-height stiffener or handrail bracket. Panels longer than 1000 mm, or with a freestanding top edge, take an extra clamp. We confirm the count on the assembly drawing when you send the panel width and top rail situation.
