Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a complete system or individual spigot hardware?

It is the complete spigot-based hardware set for a balcony glass fence: base spigots, top clamps, and the fixings that tie them to the floor and handrail. You order per panel and we supply the full mounting set, so each panel gets its base spigots plus the clamp or rail bracket at the top. That is the difference from buying loose spigots and sourcing clamps elsewhere.

How many spigots does each balcony panel need?

For a standard 900-1000 mm wide panel, two base spigots is the usual layout, with a clamp or handrail bracket at the top edge to stop tipping. Wide panels or exposed balconies step up to three spigots. The real driver is the top restraint - a panel clamped to a handrail can run on two spigots; a freestanding panel needs the third.

How high should the glass be on a balcony fence?

Balcony infill height is set by local code - 1.0 to 1.1 m above finished floor is the common requirement. We design the spigot height and fixing pattern for the panel height you use; tell us the code figure for your city and we match the hardware. If the code demands 1.2 m, the panel and anchor spec changes and we confirm the heavier setup.

Can the spigot system cope with wind on a high-rise balcony?

High-rise balconies are exactly where spigot systems are common, but the wind load has to go into the calculation - panel height, exposure and balcony depth all feed the spigot spacing and anchor size. We do not quote a blanket wind rating; send the floor level and orientation and we work the fixings to the load. For exposed corners we add a third spigot or a top clamp for restraint.

What finish should a balcony fence get so it does not date?

Matte black PVD and brushed nickel are the two finishes that read as current on balcony fencing and hold up outdoors. Gun gray is available on this range too if the facade has gray framing. Whatever you pick, keep spigots, clamps and any handrail in the same finish batch - we run them together so the tone matches across the balcony.

Can I use this hardware with a balcony that already has a metal railing frame?

Yes - if the balcony has posts or a frame, you can keep it and add spigots and clamps to fix glass infill into the existing structure, as long as the fixings line up with the frame members. Send a photo of the existing frame and the glass thickness, and we confirm which clamp or spigot base fits before you order. This retrofit path upgrades balconies without rebuilding the frame.
