Frequently Asked Questions
Why 2205 duplex stainless for a spigot?
2205 is a duplex stainless — roughly twice the strength of 304, with better pitting and stress-corrosion resistance, especially in chloride environments. For an outdoor glass railing or balustrade, that means the spigot holds up against salt, rain and cleaning chemicals far longer than standard 304. It is the right material when the railing is on a balcony, terrace or near the coast.
What does 'surface mount' mean for this spigot?
The spigot fixes onto the surface of the floor or structure with anchor bolts, and the glass panel is clamped into the spigot's groove on top — no hole drilled through the structure and no embedment. That makes installation straightforward on concrete, steel or timber decks. The floor must be level and the bolts set correctly; the glass sits in the clamp and is adjusted before final tightening.
What glass thickness does this spigot take?
It is built for the tempered glass thicknesses commonly used in balustrade panels, typically in the 10–12mm range. Confirm your glass thickness when ordering — the clamp jaws and gaskets are matched to it. If you are using laminated or thicker glass, tell us the build-up and we'll confirm the right spigot version.
Is the square body purely cosmetic or does it add strength?
The square profile is largely a design choice — it gives the railing a clean, architectural line versus a round spigot. Structurally, the clamping area and the surface-mount base carry the load: the base distributes the panel's weight and wind load across the fixing points. If you need a load calculation for a specific railing layout, send us the glass size and wind zone and we'll review.
Can this spigot be used indoors too?
Yes — it is an outdoor-rated product, but it works fine indoors for staircases, landings and mezzanine balustrades. For indoor use you can save money by choosing a brushed nickel or chrome finish on the standard grade; for outdoor or coastal use, keep the 2205. Finishes available: brushed nickel, chrome, matte black and custom colors.
What's the MOQ and lead time?
1 pc for samples (sample fee may apply), 50 pcs for a standard order, 500 pcs for OEM/custom logo. Lead time is 15–25 days depending on finish and quantity. For a project quote, give us the number of spigots, glass thickness, finish and whether the site is coastal.
