Frameless Glass Railing System Stainless Steel Glass Spigot and Clamp Hardware

A spigot is a floor-mount base that carries the glass panel from below - the glass sits in a slot or is bolted through a hole near its base. A clamp grips the glass edge and fixes to a wall, post or rail. Here they work together: spigots carry the panel at the base, clamps stabilize it at the top edge or mid-height. That combination is the standard frameless layout.

It depends on the spigot type. Our base-mount spigots take the glass in a slot - no hole required. The bolt-through version uses a pre-drilled hole near the panel corner, which needs the hole edge polished on the tempered glass. Want zero drilling? Spec the slot type. Need the extra mechanical hold? Order glass drilled and polished before tempering.

The spigots and clamps are machined for the tempered panels used in frameless balustrades - normally 10 to 12 mm, with gasket sets matched to your exact thickness. For thicker laminated panels (15-19 mm) tell us and we swap the spigot slot and clamp jaws for the wider gasket set. A 1 pc sample confirms the fit before the full run.

Typical practice is 900-1200 mm between floor spigots, with the panel clamped or reinforced at the top edge. Spacing depends on glass thickness, panel height and the wind load at the site - taller or exposed panels get closer centres. Send the panel size and location and we put the fixing pattern on the assembly drawing.

For frameless outdoor railing we would generally recommend 316, because the spigots are where the system meets the wet floor and chloride-rich water collects around the base. Indoors or under a covered terrace, 304 is fine and cheaper. Both grades come in the same finishes - brushed nickel, chrome, matte black, custom colors - so the upgrade does not change the look.

Spigots are through-bolted to concrete or steel decks with stainless anchors, typically M8-M10 depending on panel height and code. Clamps fix to posts, walls or the top rail. We supply the anchor plan with the order - substrate, bolt size and spacing - so the site crew installs the fixing exactly where the glass lands.
