Frequently Asked Questions
What makes this hardware specifically suitable for outdoor use?
The material grades and finish selection are the outdoor-specific part: 316 stainless where the fence faces salt air or pool splash, and PVD or coated finishes on exposed faces to resist UV and water staining. All fasteners are stainless, and the spigot and clamp bodies are designed so water does not sit in the joints. Indoor 304 hardware works outside too, but it starts to show rust where water collects - 316 removes that risk.
Does the finish hold up to years of sun and rain?
Matte black PVD and anodized finishes are the ones that survive outdoor exposure - they do not peel or chalk the way painted surfaces can. Brushed nickel works outdoors but shows water spotting on a vertical face near the coast. If the fence is in full sun or coastal spray, we recommend PVD black or a textured finish; we would steer you away from polished chrome for outdoor use.
How do the fixings stay tight when the fence is exposed to wind?
The bolts and grub screws are stainless and torqued to a spec that accounts for thermal movement - outdoor panels expand and contract with temperature, so joints are set to hold without over-stressing the glass. Lock washers or thread-lock are fitted where vibration is a concern. The spigot spacing is sized for the wind load at the site; send the location and we confirm the centres.
Can the glass panels be removed later for cleaning or replacement?
Yes. Spigot-mount panels are held by gaskets and bolts that release from the base, so a panel lifts out without cutting or demolition. Re-seating is the reverse - the spigot base stays put, only the panel changes. That is a practical advantage of a frameless spigot system over a fully welded or grouted fence on sites that cycle panels.
What heights and wind conditions is this system designed for?
For residential and light commercial outdoor fences, panels up to about 1.1 m are the standard envelope we engineer around. If the site has high wind exposure or the fence is taller (1.2 m plus), the spigot spacing tightens and the anchor and glass spec change - send the height, location and local wind load and we size the system rather than guess. A 1 pc sample verifies before ordering.
What is the lead time for an outdoor-grade order?
15-25 days for standard production, including the 316 grade and PVD finishes - the coating does not add lead time for stock colors. Samples are 1 pc (sample fee may apply), standard orders start at 50 pcs, and OEM/logo runs need 500 pcs. For large outdoor projects we batch spigots, clamps and rails in one production run so every finish matches.
