Frequently Asked Questions
What glass thickness does this fixing clamp handle?
The clamp is sized for the tempered infill panels typically used on balconies - usually 8 to 12 mm. The jaw opening is fixed and the rubber gasket is matched to your glass thickness, so send the figure when ordering. For thicker laminated or insulating glass, the 576 heavy-duty clamp is the safer choice. A 1 pc sample lets you test the fit before the full order.
Does the clamp bolt through the glass or grip the edge?
It grips the panel edge and bolts to a post, wall bracket or railing frame - no holes in the glass. Two bolt halves draw the jaws onto the glass with rubber/EPDM cushions between steel and glass, so there is no metal-on-glass contact and the edge stays protected. That makes fitting fast and lets the installer adjust the panel position before final torque.
Will this rust on an exposed balcony?
Choose the 316 grade for balconies exposed to rain, salt or coastal air; 304 is fine for dry indoor locations and sheltered terraces. All fasteners are stainless, and the brushed nickel, chrome or matte black finish adds a corrosion layer. For aggressive coastal sites we recommend 316 with the matte black or gun gray coating, which performs better in salt spray testing.
What finishes are available, and can you match existing railing hardware?
Finishes are brushed nickel, chrome, matte black and custom colors. If your railing frame is already installed with a different finish, send a sample or RAL number and we color-match the clamp so it blends in. Custom colors follow the 500 pc OEM minimum; stock finishes are available from 50 pcs.
Can this clamp be used mid-panel, or only at the panel edge?
These clamps are designed for the panel edge - that is how the jaws grip without drilling. Mid-panel fixing needs a spigot or point-fixing standoff instead. On balconies, edge clamps are normally fitted at three points per panel: two at the posts and one at the mid-height stiffener or handrail bracket.
