✅ High-End Project Level Product Description

Our Aluminum Base Shoe System is engineered for frameless glass railing applications in high-end architectural projects, delivering both structural strength and a clean, minimalist aesthetic.

Manufactured from premium-grade aluminum, the system offers excellent load-bearing performance and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor installations, including balconies, staircases, and commercial glass railings.

The standard profile length is 4 meters, with custom lengths available to suit different project requirements. Standard finishes include anodized silver and matte black, while custom color matching can be provided based on client samples or project specifications.

We support OEM and custom mold development, enabling full customization according to drawings, technical requirements, or architectural designs. This ensures seamless integration into a wide range of glass railing systems.

The base shoe system is compatible with tempered and laminated glass, supporting multiple thickness options to meet structural and safety standards for modern construction projects.

Designed for precision installation, long-term durability, and premium visual appeal, this system is an ideal solution for architects, contractors, and developers seeking reliable glass railing hardware.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the channel actually support - the glass or the people?

The channel carries the glass infill panels; the structural fall protection comes from the whole assembly - glass, fixings and substrate. What the channel adds is a continuous support line along the bottom edge, so panels do not rock or flex at the base like point-fixed glass can. For balustrades up to about 1.1 m this is the standard solution; anything taller or heavily wind-loaded goes through an engineering check.

How deep does the glass sit in the channel?

The channel is machined so the glass embeds enough for stability - typically around 25 mm of seating depth with rubber packing above and below, depending on the profile shipped. The exact seating is set by the gasket stack so the panel stands plumb and firm. Send your glass thickness and we quote the right channel depth for it.

How do you stop rain getting behind the glass and into the channel?

Two lines of defence. The side gaskets compress against the glass as the primary seal, and the top surface is sealed with exterior silicone. Drain weep holes at low points let any trapped water escape instead of pooling. For outdoor runs we recommend the anodized finish so the channel face itself resists water staining.

What is the difference between this and the 535 base shoe?

Functionally the same idea - a continuous aluminum channel for frameless glass. The practical difference is the profile and glass range: this one is quoted per your glass thickness and mounting surface, while the 535 is the fixed 12-22 mm gasket-range profile. In practice we match the profile to the panel spec rather than making you choose blind - send the glass thickness and we pick the channel that fits.

Can this be fitted to existing balconies without cutting the floor?

Yes - the channel surface-mounts with expansion bolts, so it needs no kerf or recess in the floor. The base is drilled on site or pre-drilled to your anchor plan, then fixed and sealed. Pre-drilling at the factory saves site time and keeps anchor spacing consistent; supply the layout and we drill to match.

Will the aluminum channel match stainless hardware on the same job?

Yes - finishes are coordinated across both materials: brushed nickel, matte black and custom colors on aluminum and stainless, so an aluminum base channel under a stainless clamp-and-rail system reads as one system. Order both in a single PO so the batches come from the same coating run - that guarantees the tone matches instead of relying on two suppliers' color.
