Frequently Asked Questions
How does a glass-to-glass clamp hold two panels together at a corner?
The clamp wraps around the corner where the two glass panels meet at 90°, with each side gripping one panel through rubber gaskets. The screws pull both jaws tight so the corner becomes rigid. It is the standard fitting for the corner of a frameless shower enclosure where a fixed panel meets the door panel or another fixed panel.
What makes this one 'heavy duty' compared to a standard glass-to-glass clamp?
The body is more substantial, with thicker walls and larger clamping surfaces, and it is offered in stainless steel 304 or 316 as well as brass and zinc. That extra material matters when the corner carries a full-height glass panel or when the door panel pivots right next to the clamp, because the joint takes more load. It is the version we suggest for 12mm glass and taller panels.
Does it fit 8mm glass as well as 12mm?
Yes, the clamp takes 8–12mm tempered glass. The jaw gap adjusts to the panel thickness and the rubber gaskets fill the difference, so the same clamp works for 8, 10, and 12mm. Just tell us the glass thickness on your order so we pre-set the gasket size and you do not have to shim it on site.
Is there any metal touching the glass that could scratch or chip the panel?
No, the glass is only ever in contact with rubber gaskets inside the jaws. The clamp is designed so the metal cannot touch the glass even when the screws are fully tightened, which protects the tempered edge from chips. Chipped edges are a real risk on frameless doors because they can propagate through tempered glass, so this matters in daily use.
Can this connector be used at something other than a 90° corner?
This unit is made for a 90° corner join. If your layout has an angled corner, an offset corner, or panels that meet at 135°, we have angled or adjustable clamp types for those situations — describe the angle in degrees and we will match the right connector. A 90° clamp forced onto an angled joint will not close cleanly.
