316 contains molybdenum, which makes it significantly more resistant to chlorides and salt — it resists pitting where 304 can eventually show small corrosion spots. In a normal bathroom 304 is fine, but for coastal homes, salt-air balconies, or pool-side changing rooms, 316 is the safer choice. The visible difference is minimal; the difference is in lifespan.

316 stainless steel hardware is commonly subjected to salt spray testing, and the 316 grade holds up far longer than 304 or plated zinc under the same test conditions. If your contract requires a specific salt spray hour rating, tell us the requirement and the test standard you use — we will confirm the grade and surface treatment that meets it.

For an ordinary indoor bathroom, 304 is adequate and is what most projects use, so the extra cost of 316 only pays off where corrosion risk is real: coastal regions, humid tropical climates, or commercial wet areas cleaned with chlorine. If the client wants a single premium spec everywhere, 316 removes the worry, and the price difference per clamp is modest.

It accepts 8–12mm tempered glass, the same range as our other clamps. The jaws hold the panel through rubber gaskets and the 316 body carries the load. If your enclosure uses 12mm glass in a coastal setting, this is the combination we recommend — 12mm panels are heavier and the corner joints need the material margin.

Yes, for OEM and project orders we can provide material certificates for the 316 stainless steel used in the clamp body and fasteners. Sample pieces can be supplied with the mill certificate on request. If your buyer's spec requires traceability, raise it at quotation stage so the certificate is included with the shipment documents.
