What is the difference between this connector and the 705 swivel version?
The 708 is a fixed glass-to-glass connector - it holds two glass panels edge to edge at the set angle without the adjustable swivel of the 705. If your two panels line up exactly as drawn, the fixed type is simpler and cheaper; if you need angle adjustment on site, use the 705.
Which glass thickness does it fit?
It is specified for standard frameless tempered panels. The exact clamp range depends on the spacer set fitted, so tell us your glass thickness when ordering and we will confirm the right gaskets. For a stated 10-16 mm range, the 705 is the model to use.
Do I need to drill the glass for installation?
Yes - it is a drilling-type connector: holes are made in both panels using our template and the connector bolts through with gaskets. We ship the template with the order so your glazier can drill before tempering - hardened glass cannot be re-drilled on site.
Is it strong enough for a mall entrance door?
Glass-to-glass connectors of this type are the standard hardware for joining panels on commercial frameless doors, including mall entrances. The 708 body is 304 stainless. For a final go-ahead on heavy entrance panels, send us the door size and we will confirm connector spacing rather than over-claiming a load figure.
What finishes are available on the 708?
Brushed nickel, chrome, and matte black as stock, with custom colors on OEM orders. The finish is on the stainless body, so it stays consistent with the patch fittings in the same door. Order the finish together with the rest of the door hardware to keep the batch tone matching.
Can I combine this connector with patch fittings in one door?
Yes - a common layout is patch fittings top and bottom, with glass-to-glass connectors where a partition joins the door panel. All our patch fittings and connectors share the same finish options, so the hardware looks uniform. Send the layout and we will quote the whole set.
