Frequently Asked Questions

What tube diameters does this connector fit?

It is made for our round handrail tubes - the standard 42.4 mm and 50 mm sections. The fitting is machined to a matching internal or external diameter so the joint sits flush. Tell us which tube you are running and the wall (1.5 or 2.0 mm); the connector profile is matched to the outer diameter, so wall thickness does not change the fit.

How does the connector join two tube sections?

Two methods depending on the project. For demountable systems the connector is a spigot - one end slides inside the tube and is screw-fixed, the other end receives the next tube. For welded systems the connector aligns the joint and the tube is welded around it. Both keep the outer surface continuous, and the internal spigot version hides all fixing hardware inside the tube.

Can the connector handle corners, or is it straight-run only?

This connector is for straight runs - joining two tube lengths on the same line. For corners we supply separate 90 and 45-degree elbows matched to the same tube. If the corner angle is non-standard, like landings or curved balconies, the adjustable fitting covers a range of angles; give us the actual angle and we pick the right fitting.

Is the connector available in 316 as well as 304?

This fitting is standard in 304, which matches our indoor handrail tube. For coastal or outdoor runs where the tube is 316, order the connector in 316 too - a 304 connector on a 316 rail becomes the first spot to pit. Ask for the 316 version explicitly and the lead time stays the same.

What finish will it come in so it matches the tube?

Brushed nickel, chrome, matte black and custom colors, produced to match the finish of the tube in the same order. The rule on connectors is to order them with the tube so both come from the same finishing batch - separate purchases of brushed nickel from two suppliers often show a slight tone difference at the joint. Custom colors follow the 500 pc OEM minimum.

Can the screw holes be hidden on the visible side?

Yes - on the internal spigot design the grub screws sit at the underside or inside the tube, and the connector sleeve covers the joint. If you prefer a serviceable joint, we locate the access screws where your installer can reach them. Confirm the tube orientation and we position the screw points accordingly.
