One strip goes on the closing edge of the door, and the matching strip on the fixed glass panel or wall it closes against. The magnetic faces line up so the door is pulled into the closed position. For a door that closes against a wall, the wall side can be fitted to a metal or wooden strip.
What glass thickness does this seal fit?
It's made for frameless shower doors in the standard tempered glass range. The extrusion grips the glass edge with a flexible lip. If your glass is outside the common range, give us the exact thickness before ordering so we confirm the groove width.
Is this the same as a plain friction seal?
No. A friction seal just presses against the edge; a magnetic seal adds a magnet that pulls the two strips together, so the door is held closed and the seal line stays continuous. That makes the magnetic version better for frameless doors where the closing edge has no latch or frame to hold it.
Will the PVC strip crack in cold weather?
The compound is flexible PVC formulated for bathroom temperatures, so it stays pliable in normal indoor use and won't crack from steam or typical cold drafts. Extreme cold, below freezing, makes any PVC stiffer, so if the door sits in an unheated space, keep that in mind.
